Entry-Level Technician

Job Description:
An Entry Level ESCO Technician reports to an assigned Project Manager and works as part of a team, assisting with the installation and testing of low voltage systems within a facility. Low voltage systems include fire alarm, video surveillance, door access, AV, audio, paging, intercom, nurse call and network. In this supportive role, the Level 1 technician is provided the opportunity to gain field experience in the systems integration industry, and grow within the company. These individuals bridge the gap between people and technology.

Continued education such as systems/industry training and certification courses are available to all technicians with zero out-of-pocket expenses. A passion for technology, electronics and/or computer systems, as well as an eagerness to learn are important characteristics for this entry level position.

Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Assists team in performing installation, service and functionality tests of low voltage systems
  • Takes part in discussing layout and assembly procedures/problems with Project Manager and helps to clarify design details and functional criteria of systems
  • Helps to adjust, calibrate, align, and modify circuitry/components and records effects on unit performance
  • Contributes to system analysis in order to best evaluate performance and reliability of a system
  • Identifies and communicate changes, progress and/or problems of a project or its components to team members and management in a timely manner
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, accuracy, thoroughness and dependability by following instructions and being an active listener
  • Adapts well to changing circumstances or conditions in the field
  • Pursues career development opportunities such as training and certification courses
  • Maintains a professional attitude and appearance at all times
  • Keeps a clean and organized work environment

Job Description:

ESCO Technicians reports to an assigned Project Manager, installing various low voltage systems in the healthcare, commercial, education and government markets. Low voltage systems include fire alarm, video surveillance, door access, AV, audio, paging, intercom, nurse call and network. Dependent upon experience and qualifications, technicians may focus more heavily in some areas than others. These individuals bridge the gap between people and technology.

Continued education such as systems/industry training and certification courses are available to all technicians with zero out-of-pocket expenses. A passion for technology and producing high-quality work with accuracy are key factors for this position.

Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Performs installation, service and functionality tests of low voltage systems
  • Discusses layout and assembly procedures and problems with Project Manager and clarifies design details and functional criteria of systems
  • May assemble experimental circuitry or complete prototype model
  • Performs system analysis in order to best evaluate performance and reliability of a system
  • Recommends changes in circuitry of installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance
  • Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance
  • Writes reports to describe and illustrate system’s operating characteristics, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations
  • Adapts well to changing circumstances or conditions in the field

  • 2-3 years’ experience in systems installation or equivalent education
  • Experience with micro-processor based systems, PC/server based systems, data networking
  • Ability to read blue prints
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stoop, balance, climb and work on a ladder, stand, walk, sit

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Information Systems Technology or related field

It is the job of ESCO’s fire alarm and security technicians to ensure that these life safety systems are running optimally. These individuals bridge the gap between people and technology.

A passion for technology, electronics and/or computer systems, as well as an eagerness to learn are important characteristics for this entry level position.

Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Supports, monitors, tests and troubleshoots software/hardware for fire alarm and security systems
  • Organizes, manages and leads technical system design discussions
  • Develops system integration plans using multiple vendor products
  • Performs system analysis in order to best evaluate performance and reliability of a system
  • Writes reports to describe and illustrate system’s operating characteristics, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations
