Simon Family Tower
The Simon Family Tower is a 10-story facility that opened in phases beginning in 2011. Completed in 2013, its 675,000 square-feet features technologies and people that provide top-rated patient care. The state-of-the-art diagnostic and medical equipment was selected and installed based on input from their healthcare professionals.
IU Health standardized on Hill-Rom Nurse Call in the ‘90s, and the Simon Family Tower was the first IU Health hospital outfitted with NaviCare Nurse Call. ESCO Communications was contracted by the integrated project delivery team to design, install and provide training to the nursing and clinical engineering staff.
ESCO was also contracted to design and extend the campus’s IED 8000 system. Recently, we were engaged by the hospital to provide an automated “anesthesia stat” announcement. Through an integration of the NaviCare® Nurse Call and IED’s GLOBALCOM Announcement Control System, when any code blue switch on the 2nd floor of Simon Family Tower is pulled, the anesthesia stat and room number are automatically paged over the loudspeakers, which are deployed on the 2nd floor in the Staff Zone, not in the areas where patients’ families and the general public would hear.
