Pike School District Streamlines Processes with Boardroom Update
The Metropolitan School District of Pike Township is an award winning school district, widely regarded as an education leader. The district is composed of nine elementary schools, three middle schools and Pike High School. Known for its innovative programming, the school administration felt it was time to extend the technological innovations into the boardroom. The district was looking to streamline operations and provide better presentation capabilities for board meetings and other community affairs. Together, Pike staff and ESCO Communications consultants created a design/build solution that met both technology and budget goals.
Presentations are one of the primary uses of any boardroom and that’s where ESCO started – upgrading their digital and video presentation technology along with their overall audio/ visual systems. “Before the update we had to wheel in a cart and projector when someone was making a presentation,” states Doug Walker, Director of Information Services. “Now we’ve got a fully integrated system with computer stations at each board member’s table and plasma screens on the wall. It makes a huge difference.” Perhaps, the biggest benefits have come from the new recording equipment that can be integrated with other technologies in the school district. Pike has set a goal to have a paperless system and with the technology installed by ESCO they have taken big steps towards that goal.
FTR (ForTheRecord) recording equipment: Instead of recording and distributing minutes on paper, the district can do it completely electronically. With the click of a button the board can record meetings for permanent record. FTR Reporter is a digital recording solution used to capture, play back, annotate and manage audio of meetings. FTR Reporter includes FTR Log Notes, an electronic note taking program used to create annotations during live proceedings or while listening to previously-recorded audio, FTR Player Plus, a premier audio play back program, and WordLink, a Microsoft add-in that gives the option of creating notes in Microsoft Word. It is truly a total digital recording solution.
